Blog Chat With:  Stephanie J. -  Director Business Development, General Manager
Business Unit:   200 Publishing
Passion: People, Writing
Favorite Color: Green
Quote:  My Quote for today is: “If Not Now, When?”

Your title is the Director of Business Development, General Manager, what is it that you do?

Stephanie J.: Well, first remember it's just a “title”.  At 220 Communications everyone digs in where needed. We have several divisions; 220 Communications which focuses on marketing, promotions and charitable events. 220 Publishing identifies Authors, publishing their works and promoting them using various resources. 220 Music identifies artist and promotes them through engagements.  For 220 Publishing, I look for writers who want to publish their works (books) and authors who are already published and need our marketing and promotional services.

Stephanie, what is your background?

Stephanie J.: My experience is in Business Development and Human Resources.  I enjoy being a Liaison.  I have been called a connector of people.  I have also taught Creative Writing classes.

How long have you been part of 220 Communications?

Stephanie J:  I meet Glenn Murray over 10 years ago through social networking and we have been connected every since. We both shared a passion for the arts and had a vision for a full service, one stop corporation that would support our clients. We wanted to help people live their dreams and  reach their goals through art, literature, music and film.  Glenn also wanted to support the non-profit community through hosting social events.

I was told that you like to go by Stephanie J – why no last name?

Stephanie J:  It's because I have been known by so many last names, I thought it might be good to just use my first name and middle initial.  It's also a way of creating a brand.  Just like we are doing with the 220 Communications family.

How many last names have you had?

Stephanie J.:  Five – No I have not been married that many times (laughing).  I was not raised by my natural parents.  I was born the sixth child of the family and taken from the hospital at six days old by my birth mothers' brother, and the story goes on from there.

It sounds like you should write a book, are you a Writer?

Stephanie J.:  Yes, I write stories, poetry and have a few screen plays that I'd like to have produced through 220's film division; once it is operational. My poetry was first published when I was 16 years old , then again at 17 with a collection of other teenage authors.

How many books have been published through 220 Publishing?

Stephanie J.: We have published two books; Making Love Better Begins Within (Yolanda “Yanni” Brown), and Experience Grace:One Woman's Year Long Journey With God After the Death of Her Mother”. (D. Michelle Stokes).   Both books are available through our website or Amazon.com and at your local book stores.  If you don't see it in the book store – ask them to order it for you.  We also have a game on the market “Authenticity” the Relationship game, you have got to play it, it's not your ordinary game.

How do you promote your clients?

We promote our clients in various ways; their book(s) are introduced through social media sites, National Press Releases, distribution through Amazon.com, Barnes and Nobles and of course 220 Communications.com.  We also set up workshops, book signings, Blog Talk Radio shows and use other resources.

Do all the Authors have to be current 220 clients for you to promote them?

Stephanie J.:  No- Authors who were not published by us can utilize our marketing and promotional services, they would have to pay a fee.

What are the goals for 220 Publishing?

Stephanie J.:  Our goal is to continue to publish and promote life changing, life improving and life impacting books. I would like to add other works such as fiction, non-fiction and poetry to our content. In addition our focus is continued growth over the years to include publishing more Authors and promoting them using our extensive database of resources. We will also host events in more cities to include book signings, speaking engagements and workshops.

What cities are you looking at?

Since home for 220 Communications is in Chicago, IL we have to start there.  In June 2011 we are scheduled to host the “Literary and Product Lounge” in Atlanta, GA for the FraserNet Networking Conference.  We hosted it last year and it was great!  I am also looking at 220 Publishing events being held in Indianapolis, Detroit, Cleveland, Charlotte and Raleigh Durham.  Locations may be added or taken off based on our scheduling.  We also look for Authors in these cities to be part of our events; so if you know anyone – tell them to contact me.

What six words describe you?

Stephanie J.: Intriguing,  Passionate, Creative, Resourceful, Optimistic, Patient...is that six already; I can give you more..(laughing)

Stephanie how would you sum up 220 Communications and what you do?

Stephanie J.:   Whether that talent is writing, business, or entertainment, we believe gifts need to be shared with the world. We also believe in giving back to those that need help and every step our company takes supports that commitment.  We make every attempt to help put the clients we work with first. 220, (An Abbreviated version of the term “Second 2 None”), describes the level of talent we work with and the level of service we provide our customers, partners and public.
